A Big Thank You

April 8, 2009 - James Whipple

This last month has brought many changes in my life. In early February I had some trouble with my heart and now am the proud owner of a new stint. I am now on the mend and making a full recovery. This illness has reminded me of all the good there is in this world. In a time when the world is full of troubles, war, economic crises, and a feeling that many have of doom I have seen the sunshine. There are those that still care for the plight of others. There are a lot of folks that I would like to thank by name, but I think it would be better if I just told you of some of their kind deeds. When I suddenly ended up in the hospital, the first visitor I had brought a newspaper and a cup of black coffee, which I sorely needed. His reassurances that I had nothing to worry about helped ease my anxiety.
The second person brought me some much-needed clothing and toiletries and a toy monkey that sang a love song from the 60s. She to did all she could to make my stay more comfortable. Then the phones calls started coming in from people I knew wishing me well. After I went home I had another friend and his wife making sure that I had food. For more then a week they brought me hot meals and newspapers. Another person made me a large pot of stew. Someone else brought me books and great conversation. Another person older than I am stopped everyday to see if I needed anything. Friends continued to call, each one in his or her way helping me get back on my feet. Without them, I think I
would have a long slow recovery. I wish to thank each and everyone of you who helped me through this illness. Thanks for showing me that indeed tomorrow would be a better day.
