Potomac crests in Shepherdstown - Photos and video

Youtube user Jezebel7705 uploaded a video of the Potomac River nearing flood stage earlier this morning. The short video shows the river lapping at the roadbed.

Local tipster Rick Swope stopped by the offices of the Shepherdstown Chronicle to let us know that some poor driver got his car stuck in high water on River Road near Knott Island. He says he witnessed the driver shivering in his skivvies after having to swim to shore. Units with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene. A tow truck was unable to reach the partially submerged vehicle where it remained until at least this afternoon when I went out and snapped this picture.
