Though it’s still February, Shepherdstown saw some warmer temperatures this week.

With the milder weather came the sunshine and the hope that the true springtime is just around the corner.

But one thing is for certain, the Shepherdstown community is gearing up for some good times ahead.

As the town council approved requests for Streetfest, the annual Independence Day parade and various other upcoming town events at Tuesday’s meeting, others are happening sooner rather than later.

Shepherdstown Music and Dance will host Grammy-nominated duo Sparky and Rhonda Rucker next weekend at Shepherd University’s Reynolds Hall, and Friends of Music will present Voces8 the same weekend. The SU Wind Ensemble will perform this evening at 7 p.m., and individuals can already register for April’s Race for the Birds, put on by the Potomac Valley Audubon Society.

Spring hasn’t sprung quite yet here in the Panhandle, but there is certainly plenty to fill one’s calendar from season to season.
