‘Gone to the Dogs’ event a success

By Staff | Aug 19, 2011

Last month the Shepherdstown Visitors Center held its annual fundraiser, the 3rd Annual “Shepherdstown Has Gone To The Dogs,” family picnic.

Everyone and every dog had a great time and it was all made possible through the many donations and sponsorships that were generously contributed. There were great prizes given for best dog, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as raffle baskets! And of course lunch consisted of, what else? Hot dogs!

I would like to thank the Jefferson County Animal Welfare Society, Jefferson Security Bank and Petsmart as this years lead sponsors. And donations were graciously given by our local Shepherdstown and regional businesses, Local Artist Marti Wells (watercolor painting of and for winning dog), Greensburg Bed & Biscuit, Bavarian Inn, Blue River Clothing, D’accord Boutique, Dickinson & Wait Craft Gallery, German Street Coffee & Candlery, Grapes & Grains Gourmet, Kazu, Lost Dog Coffee, One Two Kangaroo Toy Store, Shaharazade’s Restaurant & Tea Room, Shepherdstown Business Supplies, Inc., Shepherdstown Pedal & Paddle, Shepherdstown Sweet Shop, The Good Shop, The Source WV, Tomandy Design, Two Rivers Treads, U.S. Country Wild Flowers and Shepherdstown Paint And Art.

I also would like to thank the volunteers that donated their time to make sure everyone had a good time during the event.

And speaking of volunteers – if anyone is interested in volunteering for the Shepherdstown Visitors Center, be sure to contact us! Volunteering for the Center can be very rewarding and a lot of fun, especially if you enjoy meeting many different kinds of people, enjoy history and most of all, have a great interest in Shepherdstown! The Shepherdstown Visitors Center is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The shifts are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The minimum amount of hours required is three hours a month. If you are interested please stop in the Center and leave your name and phone number. Come join our team!

Thank you to all for your support of Shepherdstown!
