At this week's Chalk Talk luncheon, Shepherd University Rams head coach Monte Cater awarded player of week certificates and reviewed Shepherd's game against Seton Hill.
Strong safety and outside linebacker Dominic Tolson received the Player of the Week award for the week of the 19th, which included the Sept. 17 game
against Seton Hill. Corner back Elijah Davis was awarded Player of the Week for the week of the 5th, which included the Sept. 3 season opener against
Coach Cater discussed the Shepherd 64-7 victory over Seton Hill.
"I think Seton Hill is going through some growing pains," he said.
Cater explained that the home game served as a good opportunity to use alternate and special team players.
"We got a chance to play a lot of people, he said.
Special teams coach Jeremy Overfelt said that the special team's success against Seton Hill can be solely attributed to he athleticism of the SU Rams.
"All the credit for what we did Saturday goes to our athletes," he said.
Coach Cater called the game Saturday a "great win for us."
He described it as a positive start in terms of West Virginia Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (WVIAC) Division II conference games.
The Shepherd University Rams are currently ranked third in the latest American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
Shepherd will take on Charleston Saturday at noon at Ram Stadium.
