Friends of the Shepherdstown Library (FOSL) held its first Rummage Sale Fundraiser on the weekend of Oct. 8 and 9, 2011 at the SMC War Memorial Building.
I wish to thank: all the FOSL members who volunteered their time and who donated items for sale; the local residents of the Shepherdstown area who rented tables to sell their own goods; the SMC for use of their building and most especially the people who came to shop and purchased items.
The event was successful in raising $825 for Shepherdstown Public Library activities. To-date in 2011, FOSL has raised and donated a total of $14,211 to the Shepherdstown Public Library.
Next fall in 2012, FOSL plans to host a bigger, better Fall Fundraiser/Bazaar. We intend to enlarge the scope of items offered to include antiques, collectibles, crafts, heirlooms, jewelry, as well as household items, games and toys, garage items etc. We will continue to invite local Artisans and Dealers to rent space and sell their wares. Also, we will expand our efforts to request donated items from FOSL and community members to sell at our FOSL tables.
FOSL wishes to thank everyone for your support in 2011 and trusts that you will continue that support in 2012.
