The Shepherdstown Library's free programs for infants through age 12 continuing through the week of May 21.
Mondays from 10:15 to 11 a.m. will be "Lap Babies and Ones" with Miss Kathleen. She will also offer "Time for Twos" on Mondays from 11:15 to noon. The "Threes, Fours, and Fives" program with Pam will be held at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., (provided a minimum number of children enroll in each group). Spiritual Care Services at West Virginia University Hospitals-East Jefferson Memorial Hospital is a ministry of healing that provides emotional and spiritual support to patients, their families, hospital staff, and volunteers. As part of this program, Jefferson Memorial Hospital has also established a Spiritual Worship Service every Sunday at 1 p.m. This service is held in the chapel, located on the first floor, and is provided by the volunteer chaplains. The service is open to patients, visitors, family members, staff and the community. Ann Craig performs an extraordinary "sound meditation" using seven quartz crystal bowls that fill the Harmony studio with an energetic yet peaceful vibration that soothes and aligns mind, body and soul. The Jefferson County Council on Aging will host a spaghetti dinner (from 5-7 p.m.) and Sweetheart Dance (from 7-10 p.m.) at the Ranson Civic Center. The featured band is Ho-Kiss, Po-Kiss. Contra Dance offers Fred Park calling a lively selection of contra dances to the music of Taylor Among the Devils with Steve Hickman on fiddle, Marty Taylor on flute and Jonathan Jensen on piano and more at the Shepherdstown War Memorial Building. Beginners workshop at 7:30 p.m., dance starts at 8. All levels welcome, no partners needed. Please wear clean, soft-soled shoes to protect the floor. The Blue Moon Cafe will host the 2nd Annual Clam Jam at 9:30 p.m. The Clam Jam is a benefit concert highlighting the musical talents of female musicians in conjunction with Shepherd University's production of The Vagina Monologues. All proceeds will benefit the Shenandoah Women's Center and the women and children of Haiti. The annual Super Bowl Sunday meal will be offered at the Shepherdstown Fire Department from 12 to 4 p.m. Fried chicken and roast beef with all the trimmings will be available for $9 for adults and $5 for children.
