Borrow some children's fiction and nonfiction in March: inspiring books in celebration of Women's History Month from the 18th through the 31st.

The Library requests donations of gently used DVDs for adults and children. Either foreign or domestic films would be appreciated. Please drop off your donations at 100 East German Street.

Beginning and intermediate Bridge players are invited to join an informal group meeting every Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church. All are welcome and walk-ins are encouraged. For more information, contact 876-2661 or 876-0751.

Spiritual Care Services at West Virginia University Hospitals-East Jefferson Memorial Hospital is a ministry of healing that provides emotional and spiritual support to patients, their families, hospital staff, and volunteers. As part of this program, Jefferson Memorial Hospital has also established a Spiritual Worship Service every Sunday at 1 p.m. This service is held in the chapel, located on the first floor, and is provided by the volunteer chaplains. The service is open to patients, visitors, family members, staff and the community. Come to the Clarion Fitness Center in Shepherdstown for SALGA YO, a new class with Jeanne Fisher which incorporates the gentle stretching of yoga before and after 30 minutes of Salsa and other Latin-based dance cardio will be held at the Clarion Fitness Center on Wednesdays at 9:10 a.m. Call for more information at 304-870-7011.

The Shepherdstown Museum, at the corner of German and Princess streets, is open on weekends from April through October and during Christmas in Shepherdstown. Hours are: Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays, 1 p.m.-4 p.m. The museum tells the history of Shepherdstown and of the Entler Hotel, in which it is located. Trinity Episcopal Church's Thrift Shop at 104 South Church Street is having a sale.

"Fill a Bag Sale" began on March 22 and ends on March 31. Spring clothing will be available starting April 5.

Shepherd University's Rude Mechanicals Medieval and Renaissance Players will present Holy Harlots: Two Medieval Plays about Prostitutes at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, March 25 at 2 p.m.; Wednesday, March 28 at 9 p.m.; Thursday, March 29 at 9 p.m.; Friday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. Performances will be held in Reynolds Hall. Tickets will be available at the door. Ticket prices are $5 for the general public; $2 for Shepherd University faculty and staff; and free for Shepherd students.

Ellen Hardesty will exhibit her photographic work at the Jean Heiler Gallery at the Old Opera House in Charles Town/ The exhibit runs March 23 April 1 with an opening reception on today from 6 p.m. until just before the play, Home Games, beginning at 8 p.m. The artist will be on hand during the reception on March 23rd. The exhibit will also be available for viewing before each play night and during the play's intermissions on March 24, 25, 30, 31 and April 1.

Brothers of Harmony Masonic Lodge #42 F&AM will offer a fundraising dinner beginning at 12 noon and running until the food runs out. Price for the meal which consists of fish or fried chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, green beans, apple sauce and rolls, will be $10. Pre-orders of five or more dinners can be delivered per request. In preparation for the general election season, the Jefferson County Democratic Association (JCDA) will hold a Volunteer Open House to welcome back previous campaign volunteers and encourage new ones. The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Charles Town Library, lower-level meeting room. Everyone is welcome to drop by the Open House. Coffee and snacks will be served. The Jefferson County Board of Education will hold a regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. at the Board offices, 110 Mordington Avenue, Charles Town.

The Gateway Republican Women extends an invitation for all to join at 7 p.m. at Ryan's Restaurant in Martinsburg for a "Meet & Greet" session with candidates. Invited the Republican State Legislative Candidates from Morgan, Berkeley and Jefferson counties.

The West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals will hold court in the Charles Town Courthouse beginning at 10 a.m. The public does have access to the court proceedings.

Covenant Church in Shepherdstown will host The Art of Marriage Conference Friday and Saturday. The cost is $50 per couple. Tickets can be purchased on Sunday mornings in the bookstore. They can also be purchased online through the website Lunch and snacks will be provided. Childcare will be available.

Apr. 4

The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will sponsor a bird walk on the C&O Canal near Harpers Ferry, meeting at 8 a.m. outside John Brown's Fort, where Potomac and Shenandoah Streets join in Harpers Ferry National Park. Parking is available along Potomac Street near the train station. The walk will start at the Point, proceed over the footbridge and continue about two miles northwest along the C&O Canal towpath and back. Possible species to be sighted include Bald Eagles, Red-tailed Hawks, vultures, migrating waterfowl, woodpeckers, kinglets, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Winter Wrens, Brown Creepers and other species.
