YATL’s workshop production opens in June

By Staff | Jun 1, 2012

The Young Actors Theater Lab continues its tradition of producing quality theater by children and for children with its most recent workshop production, Comedy of Errors, running June 8 – 17, Fridays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays/Sundays at 2 p.m.

Filled with a cast and crew of children and teens from the tri-state region, this hilarious script is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic intended especially for young audiences. Comedy of Errors is a chaotic comedy about two sets of twins who are separated soon after birth and are, decades later, unexpectedly and unknowingly reunited. Children of all ages will enjoy this performance, which is an excellent introduction to The Bard’s classic work!

This play is the culmination of a Production Workshop, one in a series of this type of workshop held at YATL year-round, where students learn first-hand many of the elements involved in theatrical production. Workshop participants appear not only on stage, but backstage, and have had a hand in set, costume, and make-up design for this production. They have had guest speakers cover stage combat, Rennaissance theater, make-up design, acting technique, and more.

Tickets for this show are only $8 for all ages, are general admission, and are on sale now at YATL’s website, www.MyYATL.com.
