Obit-Landers

June 1, 2012
Shepherdstown Chronicle

Charmaine Landers, of Shepherdstown, died at home on May 25, 2012, during a spectacular summer storm.

She was born in 1949 in Honolulu, Hawaii to William H. Landers and Melba Peach (Landers/Koch), both deceased. She is survived by her soul mate of 38 years, Gregory King, of Shepherdstown and her daughter Lizz King.

In 1999, Charmaine & Greg opened the Blue Moon Cafe' in Shepherdstown, where she worked with her family until only recently. She loved antiques and was an enthusiast at restoring them, sharing this love in the shops she opened in Shepherdstown over the years.

She was a passionate animal lover and will be missed by her cats Max and Pittifur and her doggies Phoebe and Jae Z.

She was an artist who excelled at painting, pottery, jewelry, doll craft, and quilting. She will be missed by the community, customers, friends and family - a network of love too large to be counted. She always lit up any room with her expressive grin and irreverent tongue.

Internment will be private. A celebration of her life will be held at the Blue Moon Cafe on Monday, June 11, beginning at 4 p.m. Prayers, poems and promises will be read at 6 p.m.

She will be forever in the hearts and minds of all souls blessed enough to have loved our laughing lady.

Arrangements by Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.

Please sign the online guestbook and view her obituary at www.mtstrider.com.
