The Good Shepherd Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers will hold their annual "Tastes from Around the World" fundraising event at the Bavarian Inn on Wednesday evening.

The event will feature food stations from different countries including Argentina and Germany, and a selection of wine.

"It's a full cocktail party," said Gary Tucker, president of the Board of Directors for Good Shepherd.

Tucker described the social event and fundraiser as an opportunity for community members to get together and enjoy themselves while providing funds for a good cause.

"It's a wonderful opportunity to see what we do," he said.

Good Shepherd Interfaith Caregivers is a local nonprofit coalition of churches, individual volunteers and the Shepherdstown Rotary Club, that offers service and assistance to local elderly residents and those with disabilities.

According to Tucker, Good Shepherd has worked in a partnership the Bavarian Inn for the past five years.

He said the event is also an opportunity for guests to experience the Bavarian Inn's hospitality and commitment to community service

"They've been great great supporters of Good Shepherd," he said.

According to Paula Marrone-Reese executive director of Good Shepherd, the "Taste," fundraiser is just one of a few special events that Good Shepherd hosts in order to keep its doors open to the community.

"If we don't have the events like the 'Taste' event we can't meet our budget," she said.

Marrone-Reese said that Good Shepherd, which is funded entirely through donations, aims to be able to remain in service to the community rather than becoming a burden for the community.

"In this community, it just seems like Good Shepherd is like a neighbor," she said of the group which is comprised of volunteers from all over the area.

The 'Taste' event will be held at the Bavarian Inn on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $60 per individual or $100 for a couple. Those interested in participating can RSVP by calling 304-876-3325.
