Production to benefit Barlow Family Fund

October 5, 2012
Shepherdstown Chronicle

The Young Actors Theater Lab previously announced that its Thursday, Oct. 18, production of "A Princely Predicament" would benefit the Stephen A. DiServio Memorial Fund. However, that organization has asked that the fundraiser be moved to the spring. Therefore, the same performance will now be for the benefit of the Barlow Family Fund.

In September of this year, Harold Barlow died suddenly, leaving his wife and five young children. The oldest child, Ryan, is one of YATL's young actors. The fund was created to help the family in the wake of Mr. Barlow's illness and death. YATL is grateful to have the opportunity now to contribute to this fund.

The show will run Oct. 12 - 21, Thursday/Fridays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays/Sundays at 2 p.m.

Filled with a cast and crew of children and teens from the tri-state region, this witty script is a cleverly written spoof of the fairly tale genre. YATL encourages new work for young players and audiences, and is particularly proud to produce the world premier of this script written by local playwright Devan Whitacre.

"A Princely Predicament" is the culmination of a Production Workshop, one in a series of this type of eight-week workshop held at YATL year-round, where students learn first-hand many of the elements involved in theatrical production. Workshop participants appear not only on stage, but work backstage, and have had a hand in set, costume and make-up design for this production.

Tickets for this show are only $8 for all ages, are all general admission, and are on sale now at YATL's website, www.MyYATL.com.
