Snyder helps pave the way at center
State Senator Herb Snyder visited Shepherdstown Day Care on Oct. 2 to present a certificate for $16,500 from the State of West Virginia Community Participation Project Grant Program. Board members, parents and staff attended the ceremony, held at the center’s East German Street location.
The funds will enable the center to finish construction of its redesigned, enlarged parking lot and driveway. “We are deeply grateful to Senator Snyder for facilitating our request, ” said Patty Martineau,
SDC Board President. “It completes the last phase of our outdoor renovation project, which also included four new age-specific playgrounds and landscaping.” The final step is a very welcome one for parents, staff and visitors, according to Melissa Holman, the center’s director, who noted that the improvements were essential to the safely of the entire SDC community.
Senator Snyder is a strong advocate for early childhood education, and a long-time friend and supporter of Shepherdstown Day Care. His grandchildren attended the program for several years.
