Friday, November 9
6:30-11:00 p.m.?Community Potluck and Dance at the Community Club on German Street. Potluck supper from 6:30-8:30 p.m.; music and dancing from 9:00 p.m. on. Music by Sacred Groove, a Grateful Dead Tribute band. Everyone welcome; free.
Saturday, November 10
10:00 a.m.?Dedication of plaque to the town's founder, Thomas Shepherd. At the Shepherd family graveyard on New Street. Sponsored by the Shepherdstown Ministerial Association. Everyone welcome; free.
10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.?Open house at the old Thomas Shepherd Grist Mill on High Street. Everyone welcome; free.
Sunday, November 11
1:00 p.m.?Steam Engine Demonstration for Children and Parents. Entler Hotel on German Street. Nicholas Rumsey, a member of the family of steamboat pioneer James Rumsey, will demonstrate model steam engines and explain how steam works. Everyone welcome; free.
3:00-4:00 p.m.?Coming Home Parade featuring descendants and representatives of the town's historic families, led by fifes and drums from the Shepherdstown Middle School Band. Everyone welcome; free.
4:00-5:00 p.m.?Closing ceremony in front of McMurran Hall. Will include the presentation of special items that have been developed by groups and individuals to commemorate the town's anniversary, and the recognition of others who have undertaken other commemorative projects of lasting value. Music by students from the Shepherdstown Elementary School.
5:00-7:00 p.m.? Shepherdstown Coming Home Soup Fest. Soups and more at ten different locations around town. A shuttle will provide transportation between these locations, so people can visit as many as they wish. Everyone welcome. Some locations will charge a modest fee; some will accept donations; others will be free. Some will offer soup for sale to take home. 7:00-9:00 p.m.? After the Soups event at The Train Station. Cheese and deserts, tea and coffee, and other refreshments. Music by the Danny Tait trio. Everyone welcome; free.
