The Jefferson County Animal Control, a division of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, has announced that the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) has awarded them a scholarship grant totaling $1,850. The grant funding will be used to send Animal Control Officer, Jessica Ebersole, a veteran of Jefferson County Animal Control, to the National Animal Cruelty Investigator's Training School in Bushnell, Fla..
The Jefferson County Animal Control, works hand in hand with the Sheriff 's Office in investigating complaints regarding cruelty to animals, which include animal neglect, inadequate food/water or shelter, animals in need of veterinary care in both domestic pets and livestock. This training is a milestone for both the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and Animal Control so the community can be best served in recognizing, educating and enforcing the WV Statute 61-8-19 "Cruelty to Animals" law.
