Four Seasons offers Civil War book events

During the finale of the Shepherdstown 250, Four Seasons Books will contribute by hosting three events highlighting the rich history of the area. They will also discount Civil War books the entire weekend of Nov. 10 & 11.

Nicholas Redding author of A History and Guide to Civil War Shepherdstown, will discuss and sign copies of his new book at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. His meticulously researched volume includes never-before published photos, a history of the town during the war, a walking tour of the historic village and driving tour of the Shepherdstown battlefield.

Dennis Frye will be on hand at 3 p.m. Saturday to discuss his lates Civil War history, “Lincoln’s Union in Peril.” Frye is the Chief Historian at Harpers Ferry National Park and has written extensively on the war. His newest book chronicles the dark and tense months of 1862 when the nation was on the brink of disaster.

Also at Four Seasons at 3 p.m Saturday will be Tim Rowland, author of Strange and Obscure Stories of the Civil War. This newest work is a collection of stories and humorous events behind some of the most famous Civil War moments.

Bob O’Connor will be at Four Seasons on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. to discuss his Civil War books and research including his latest novel about a Shepehrdstown family divided by loyalties, “A House Divided Against Itself.” O’Connor is a long-time history buff and has worked closely with the Antietam National Battlefield as part of his job as the former director of tourism with Washington County, Md.
