Shepherd University's TRIO Student Support Services is having a silent auction to help raise money for a student emergency fund Monday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Ram's Den in the Student Center.
TRIO is a federally-funded program that offers academic tutoring and skill building, personal assistance and academic advising in post secondary course selection, information about financial aid programs and financial literacy, benefits and resources for locating scholarships, education and counseling services and assistance in applying to graduate and professional programs.
Its national mission is to increase the number of low-income college students, first generation college students and college students with disabilities in the United States who successfully complete a program of study at the post-secondary level.
The emergency fund is for student books and equipment that students need to be successful in their classes.
