Visitors Center welcomes new director

By Staff | Dec 7, 2012

The Shepherdstown Visitors Center is very pleased to welcome Jan Hafer, a Shepherdstown native and Shepherd University graduate, as their new director. Hafer has already started in her new role, welcoming visitors and getting to know the Visitors Center office and volunteers during this past weekend, busy with parade-goers and shoppers during Christmas in Shepherdstown. She replaces Cheryl Keyrouze, who left the SVC on Nov. 25 to take a position as the the PanTran Director in Martinsburg.

Hafer is looking forward to working with the Board and the SVC volunteers to promote the wonderful town, after returning ‘home’ in 2009 and retiring this past August. She wants to give back to the community after spending more than 20 years as an educator of the deaf, most recently at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. She is fluent in American Sign Language.

Please stop by the Visitors Center to say hello!
