A Local Blogger, now in a book

By Staff | Mar 22, 2013

Teri Biebel, a local office manager by day and humor blogger by night, has been featured in a best selling book called, “I Just Want to Pee Alone.”

Biebel, who said she’s more of a professional complainer than writer, landed an opportunity to contribute to the anthology on motherhood as a result of her work, griping about or making light of different aspects of her life on her Blogspot blog, “Snarkfest.”

“I have a wicked sense of humor,” she said about starting the blog a year ago, which features comical and anecdotal stories about her kids and husband, as well as observations on culture and news.

“I don’t have the chops for stand up,” she said.

Instead Beibel took to the growing medium of blogging and quickly found favor with other humor bloggers like Jen, of the popular “People I want to Punch In the Throat,” blog.

It was Jen, who has risen to national notoriety after the success of her first book “Spending the Holidays with People I want to Punch in the Throat,” who tapped Biebel to be a contributor to “I Just Want to Pee Alone.”

Jen said she decided she wanted to publish an anthology of stories based on the experience of raising children.

“You have these days that if you don’t laugh, you’re going to cry, so you might as well laugh,” she said.

She said the book is designed to make sure all moms know they’re not alone in the less than glamorous experience motherhood can sometimes be.

Beginning two years ago, Jen asked approximately 50 bloggers and writers she was familiar with to submit essays. After consideration, 36 essays were chosen, including Biebels piece about her struggles to get a teenager to clean the house.

“I knew readers wanted to read more writers,” Jen said about the book.

She said she wanted to use her second self-published book as a vehicle for bloggers at varying levels of success and popularity.

“We can all now say that we’re Amazon Best Sellers,” she said.

“I Just Want to Pee Alone,” landed on both the Itunes Top 10 Humor Book list and Amazon’s list of Best Sellers in the Parenting and Humor category, even besting famous funny woman and mom, comedian Tina Fey’s book “Bossy Pants.”

“It’s been kind of exciting,” Biebel said of the unforeseen success.

Biebel said plans for the future include a book signing at Shepherdstown’s Four Seasons Books on May 17, where the book is available for sale.

She said that though she never imagined she’d be contributing to national best selling book, the experience has given her confidence.

“It’s not out of the question that someday I’ll write a book of my own.”
