Obituary – Demory

Mary L. Demory of Charles Town, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Shenandoah Center in Charles Town.

Demory was born on Nov. 22, 1924 in Loudoun, Va. to Art Mason and Mary Starkey.

Mrs. Demory was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker, who practiced a Methodist faith.

Demory is survived by her daughters Martha A. Comer of Charles Town and Mary A. Byrd and husband Rick of Shepherdstown, sister Ruth Murphy of Sterling Park, Va., brother Tom Starkey and wife Elaine of Leesburg, Va., brother Joe Starkey and wife Ester, of Ashburn, Va. and grandchildren Ann Halavick and husband Ed and Penny Clemmons, as well as great-grandchild, Skyler Waldeck.

Demory is preceded in death by late husband Garland R. Demory, who died June 1, 1993, sister Helen, brothers George Starkey and James Starkey and by son-in-law Marshall Tim Comer.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 22, at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, in Charles Town, and were presided over by Rev. Lee Brumback.

Mrs. Demory was laid to rest at the Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town.

Friends were received at the Melvin T. Strider Funeral Home on Sunday.
