Two honored by Kiwanis

The Paul M. Saab Memorial Kiwanis Scholarships for 2013 were awarded to Sydney Holliday, a recent graduate of Jefferson High School, and Chelsea Hampton, of Washington High School, by the Kiwanis Club of Shepherdstown.

Sydney is the daughter of Shelly and John Holliday of Shepherdstown and she plans to attend Shepherd University where she will study pre-medicine with the goal of becoming a dermatologist. She was active in the Key Club while in high school.

Chelsea is the daughter of Joyce and Charles "Chuck" Hampton and served as the president of the Washington High Key Club. She will attend Shepherd University to major in psychology with the goal of becoming a family counselor.

Both young ladies received scholarship checks from Calvin Whittington, President of the Kiwanis Club of Shepherdstown. The Paul M. Saab Memorial Kiwanis Scholarship was established in 2001 to honor Paul Saab, a longtime professor of biology at Shepherd and a charter member of the Kiwanis Club of Shepherdstown.
