Exercise the right to vote

By Staff | Jun 28, 2013

June 4, 2013 was the 94th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution, which gave women full voting rights. Women had fought for four decades to achieve this goal. The League of Women Voters encourages everyone, men and women, to treasure this right by exercising it whenever there is an opportunity.

In this season of graduations, we encourage everyone to celebrate with the graduates in their lives, both male and female, by ensuring that they are registered to vote. This is a rite of passage along with getting a degree and landing ones first job.

Registration forms for WV voters can be obtained at your County Clerk’s Office or by downloading from the Secretary of State’s website, www.sos.wv.gov. Once completed, the form can be mailed or delivered in person to the local County Clerks Office.

When the time comes to vote, help your graduates to know about absentee and early voting in addition to in-person voting on Election Day.

The League of Women Voters welcomes men and women interested in working to strengthen our democracy through non-partisan education and advocacy. For information about the League, contact Ann Coulter at anncoulter@comcast.net or go to www.civicwomen@wordpress.com .

Sincerely,

Ann Coulter
