Seeking reinstatement of Really Really Free Market

August 9, 2013
Shepherdstown Chronicle

For five years the Shepherdstown Really Really Free Market served as a means for community members from Shepherdstown and throughout the region to share their unwanted treasures for free at the downtown locus of the stone wall in front of historic McMurran Hall.

Unfortunately the RRFM was asked to move by McMurrran and Shepherd University officials in April of 2013. The cancellation of the popular event sparked an eruption of community support including a "protest RRFM" organized by business owners supportive of the event.

Now the "Friends of The Shepherdstown Really Really Free Market" have submitted an official event request the Shepherdstown Town Council to hold the RRFM once a month on a section of North King Street directly in front of City Hall and adjacent to its former location at McMurran Hall. The Town Council will ultimately decide to approve or disapprove of the request at the August Town Council meeting.

The "Friends of the RRFM" spokesperson, Robert Glenn will be present to answer any questions from the councilmen/women. A good turnout of support is requested by all those who care about the future of the RRFM in Shepherdstown. The Town Council Meeting will take place on Tuesday Aug. 13, 6:30 p.m. at the Shepherdstown City Hall located on 104 North King Street.

For more information please contact Robert Glenn or visit the groups Facebook at "The Shepherdstown Really Really Free Market."
