Obituary Drennen

Sarah W. Drennen, 71, Shepherdstown, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at her residence under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

She was born Sept. 9, 1941 in Brownsville, Tex. She was the daughter of Arthur H. Wilson and Molly (Polk) Wilson.

Mrs. Drennen retired from Shepherd University as a Spanish Professor. Prior, she taught at University of Virginia and West Virginia State University.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

She graduated from Georgetown Visitation Convent College, class of 1961. She received her BA Degree in Spanish from Marshall University and her Master's Degree in Spanish from University of Virginia.

She was an avid quilter and a member of Cabin Creek Quilts, Charleston, W. Va. She was a member of the Shepherdstown Quilt Group.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, William Miller Drennen, Jr., at home; sons, Rev. Zachary Polk Drennen, Nairobi, Kenya and Samuel Boyd Drennen and wife Susanna, Athens, Ga.; grandchildren, Emma Alcott and James Miller; sisters, Anne Issacco and husband Michael, Greenville, Pa., Brooks Hernandes and husband Manolo, McLean, Va., Esther Hannon and husband Brian, Charlottesville, Va..; brothers, Arthur Harrison Wilson, Fredericksburg, Va., James Mather Wilson and wife Sharon, Ivy, Va. and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Shepherdstown, with Dr. G.T. Schramm and the Rev. Zachary P. Drennen officiating.

Inurnment will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church Columbarium.

A reception will be held after the service at the Cress Creek Country Club.

Arrangements are by the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
