Shepherdstown Chronicle

Pursuant to WV Department of Education Policy 2419 and West Virginia State Code 18-5-17, the Jefferson County Board of Education will be conducting a screening of vision, hearing , speech and language for students newly enrolled in county public and private schools. This includes all kindergarten and preschool students as well as new enrollees at all grade levels. Repeat screenings will also be done for students identified as "at risk" through a previous screening. Additionally, children who have not yet reached school age may be included in this screening program at parent request. These screenings began Sept. 1.

If you would like more information, would like to opt your student out of the screenings or wish to request that your under school age child be screened, please contact Jefferson County Schools Pupil Services Department at 304-728-9236.
