Complete Boo! Fest Schedule

Shepherdstown will celebrate Halloween this year by holding its first annual Boo!Fest.

Most events will be free; those that will require an admission fee are noted on the schedule.

In addition to the scheduled activities, many of the town’s restaurants will offer Halloween-themed menus throughout the period. Check with your favorite restaurants for details.

Friday, Oct/ 25

9-11 p.m. First Annual Vampire Ball. (Admission fee.) Shepherdstown Community Club, 102 East German Street. Proceeds benefit Club programs.

Saturday, Oct. 26

9 a.m.-3 p.m. Antiques & Collectibles Flea Market. Train Station, 100 Audrey Egle Drive.

10 a.m. Zombie Run! at the Shepherd University Wellness Center. (Admission fee.) A Relay for Life Event proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Registration starts at 9:00 a.m.

12-1:30 p.m. Monster Mask Making. Trinity Episcopal Church churchyard, corner Church and German Streets. (Rain Location: Stone House at 112 West German Street).

12-1:30 p.m. Get Your Zombie ON! Part One. Zombie make-up demonstration by nationally known make-up artist: R.J. Haddy, Reynolds Hall, 109 North King Street. Make-up kits available for purchase.

12-2 p.m. Hallowed Grounds. History as told through the churches and graveyards of Shepherdstown. Tour leaves from King and German streets.

2-3:30 p.m. Film: The Nightmare before Christmas. 1993 animated family movie by Tim Burton. Shepherdstown Opera House, 131 West German Street.

2-4 p.m. Global/Local Fusion Food Tasting. Food tasting of international recipes using locally grown food. Stone House at 112 West German Street.

3 p.m.-closing. Tarot Card readings at Shaharazade’s Restaurant & Tea Room, 141 West German Street.

3:30-5 p.m. Pumpkin Painting. Trinity Episcopal Church churchyard. (Rain Location: Stone House at 112 West German Street).

3:30-5 p.m. Get Your Zombie ON! Part One-Again. Continuation of Zombie make-up demonstration by nationally known make-up artist: R.J. Haddy, Reynolds Hall. Make-up kits available for purchase.

4-6 p.m. Haunted House open. Shepherdstown Community Club.

5-7:30 p.m. Creepy Cocktail Crawl. Special Halloween adult beverages for sale at participating restaurants.

5-6:30 p.m. Get Your Zombie ON! Part 2. Learn the “Thriller” Zombie Dance from Instructor Jennifer Seeley and the “Shepherd University Zombie Core.” King Street in front of Town Hall. No make-up or costume required

5-8:30 p.m. Bonfire with cider and candied apples for sale. King Street at German Street corner.

7-8:30 p.m. Get your Zombie ON! Part 3: Zombie Street Dance. Come all zombies, zombie fans and “Thriller” dancers?Everyone is welcome to join the Zombies and dance in the street. King Street in front of Town Hall.

8-9 p.m. Walking Ghost Tour. (Admission fee.) Meet at the Mecklenburg Inn; bring a flashlight.

8:30 p.m. Tilted Torch Spook-o-rama Variety Show. (Admission fee.) Shepherdstown Opera House. Audience costumes welcome.

9-11 p.m. Film: The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The 1975 classic. Reynolds Hall. Characters welcome. Bring your own supplies or buy at show.

Sunday, Oct. 27

9 a.m.-1 p.m. Shepherdstown Farmers Market. North King Street, behind the Library.

12-2 p.m. Haunted House Open. Shepherdstown Community Club.

12:30-1:30 p.m. Book Readings of favorite Halloween Tales. Children 10 and under. Four Season’s Book Store, 116 West German Street.

1-2 p.m. Registration for Halloween Costume Parade for People and Pets (see below). Shepherdstown Visitor Center’s Tent at King and German streets.

1-3 p.m. Hallowed Grounds. History as told through the churches and graveyards of Shepherdstown. Tour leaves from King and German Streets.

1-2 p.m. Meet your Friendly, Neighborhood Ghosts. (Admission fee.) Family-friendly walking ghost tour. Meet at the Mecklenburg Inn; ends at the Entler Hotel with a special chat about the Entler ghost.

2-4 p.m. Cider and candied apples for sale. King Street at German Street corner.

2:30-4 p.m. Halloween Costume Parade for People and Pets. Walk the runway in your Halloween Best. King Street in front of Town Hall.

3 p.m.-closing. Tarot Card readings at Shaharazade’s Restaurant & Tea Room.

Monday, Oct. 28

5-7 p.m. Performance/ Readings of Edgar Allan Poe classics. Bistro 112 Restaurant, 112 West German Street. Buy dinner and enjoy the show.

7-8:30 p.m. Film: Frankenstein. (Admission fee.) 1931 original Boris Karloff version. Shepherdstown Opera House

9-10:30 p.m. Film: Dracula. (Admission fee.) 1931 original Bela Lugosi version. Shepherdstown Opera House

Tuesday, Oct. 29

10:30 a.m. Costume Parade followed by Halloween Story Time and Crafts. For infants through age 5. Meet outside Shepherdstown Library for parade; proceed to Shepherdstown Community Club next door for Story Time and Crafts.

5-7 p.m. Performance/ Readings of Stephen King classics. Domestic restaurant, 117 East German Street. Buy dinner and enjoy the show.

7-8:30 p.m. “Appalachian Haints and Hauntings” with storyteller Lyn Ford. Auditorium of the Robert C. Byrd Center for Legislative Studies, North King Street. Sponsored by the WV Humanities Council and Shepherd University/

Wednesday, Oct. 30

4:30-8 p.m. Spooktacular All-You-Can-Eat Dinner. (Admission fee.) Kid-friendly. Shepherd University Student Center.

6-8 p.m. Performance/Reading of scary, classic West Virginia tales. Yellow Brick Bank restaurant, 201 East German Street. Buy dinner and enjoy the show.

7-9 p.m. 13th Annual Shep-or-Treat Halloween. Halloween games and events for children ages 14 and under. Shepherd University Student Center.

7-8:30 p.m. Film: Night of the Living Dead. (Admission fee.) 1990 remake of the 1968 classic. Shepherdstown Opera House

9-10:30 p.m. Film: House of 1000 Corpses. (Admission fee.) 2003 film, written and directed by Rob Zombie. Shepherdstown Opera House.

Thursday, Oct. 31

10:30-11:30 a.m. Shepherdstown Day Care Center Halloween Parade. German Street, from Princess to King streets.

4-5 p.m. Scary Story Reading & Crafts. For children of all ages. Shepherdstown Library.

6-9 p.m. Haunted House Open. Shepherdstown Community Center.

DUSK-8 p.m. Traditional trick or treating in Shepherdstown.
