SHEPHERDSTOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Library's free Holiday Story Time will be held at the Train Station (100 Audrey Egle Drive) on Saturday, December 14 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Join Children's Librarian Lilly Bauer, musician Tony Martirano, and Mrs. Santa Claus for stories, carols, cookies, cider, and cocoa. Intermediate Bridge players are invited to join an informal group meeting every Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Chapel. All are welcome and walk-ins are encouraged. For more information, contact 304-876-6244.

The Shepherdstown Museum, at the corner of German and Princess streets, is open on weekends from April through October and during Christmas in Shepherdstown. Hours are: Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays, 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Inquiries should go to 304-876-0910, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The Shepherdstown Community Club is sponsoring a month long Christmas Bazaar at the War Memorial Building (German and King streets). Admission is free. A pre-holiday preview will be held Dec. 7-8; Dec. 14-15 and Dec. 21-22. A selection of unique handcrafted items, by jury selected local and regional artisans, make for ideal holiday gifts, and allow one to support the Shepherdstown Community Club's work in the community.

4-7 p.m. Art Market sponsored by Shepherd University's Department of Contemporary Art and Theater. Students, faculty and alumni will be selling original and unique prints, drawings, photos, crafts and more. Room 112 of the Center for Contemporary Art on the University camps.

4:30-7:30 p.m. "Old Tyme" Christmas Dinner* at the Shepherd University Dining Hall on the University campus. (Admission $4-$8.)

7-11 p.m. Annual Rotary Charity Gala.* At the Shepherdstown Fire Hall. Proceeds benefit various local charities. (Contact Rotary at 304-264-7919 for ticket information.)

Dec. 7

Contra Dance: Adina Gordon calls lively contra dances at our annual holiday dance to the fine music of Mavish with Jaige Trudel on fiddle, Adam Broom on guitar and Matthew Olwell on flute, bodhran and foot percussion at the Shepherdstown War Memorial Building. Beginners workshop at 7:30 p.m., dance starts at 8 p.m. All levels welcome, no partners needed. Please wear clean, soft-soled shoes to protect the floor. Admission is $10 adults, $7 SMD members, $4 dancers under 12 years old. The annual Christmas parade will kick off in town at 11 a.m.

3 p.m.. Aromatherapy Bath Salt Demonstration: FREE! & Handmade Holiday Open House: Join us for an afternoon of fellowship, refreshments, and an opportunity to do some Holiday shopping. Wild Rose Soap products will be for sale, along with handmade beautiful knit gifts and hand sewn pillows, aprons, table-runners, and more by local artisans. Dec. 10

An Ecumenical Service of Prayer and Healing hosted by the Shepherdstown Episcopal Church on the corner of German and Church Street in Shepherdstown will meet from 7-8 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall. This is a service of prayer, song and healing. For more information, please call the Rev. Susan MacDonald at 301-667-1165.

Speak: Shepherdstown Story Series will present Slash Coleman of New York City. Known for his PBS special The Neon Man and Me, Coleman recently published his first book entitled The Bohemian Love Diaries. Coleman is a nationally-known teller, relationship advice blogger, and regular contributor to Psychology Today. Tickets, which are $10 in advance and $12 at the door, are available by phoning 304-886-9481. Students are admitted at $8 with ID. Coleman will sign copies of his new book immediately after the storytelling event.

Dec. 14

1 p.m.: Holiday Gifts: Lotion, Body Scrubs, and Bath Tea Class. Just in time for the holidays, join for this fun class where we'll make lotions, natural body scrubs, and aromatherapy bath teas, which you can give to your friends and family! Learn to make hostess gifts, too! Each student will take home several homemade lotions, a 12 ounce body scrub and a gift set of bath teas. Cost: is $85. Jefferson County Parks and Recreation offer their annual Lunch with Santa beginning at 11 a.m. and going until 1 p.m. at the Jefferson County Community Center, Sam Michael's Park. For $12 per child, participants will receive a picture with Santa, lunch from Chick-fil-A, a craft to complete on sight, games, movies and much more. Jefferson County Parks and Recreation offer an Elf PJ Party from 5 to 9 p.m. For $20 per child, enjoy games, crafts, movies, moon bounces and snacks. Children are to come in pajamas to the Jefferson County Community Center, Sam Michael's Park!

Dec. 17
