Shepherd's Scarborough Library to exhibit Muslim-focused collection

December 13, 2013
Shepherdstown Chronicle

Shepherd University's Scarborough Library will be one of the first academic libraries to exhibit the collection "The Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys." The books and films in the Muslim Journeys Bookshelf address Muslim beliefs, practices, and cultural heritage, and they are grouped into themes, including American Stories; Connected Histories; Literary Reflections; Pathways of Faith; Points of View; and Art, Architecture, and Film. The collection is available at the Scarborough Library through Feb. 4, 2014.

Selected with the advice of librarians, cultural programming experts, and distinguished scholars, the collection is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association. In order to reach a wide audience, the West Virginia Humanities Council asked the West Virginia Library Commission to house the Bookshelf and make it available to public, academic, and high school libraries across the state.

Each film in the collection comes with public performance rights and books are available for checkout for seven days.
