The Sixth annual Eastern Panhandle Home School Conference (EPHSC) will be held on March 29, 2014 in Shepherdstown from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This local conference offers some of the best resources in the nation for home schooling families or those considering home schooling. With nationally known speakers and vendors, local families can find the resources they need to be successful.
One of the benefits of attending a local conference is that families can connect with others in the community with similar educational goals without spending a fortune on travel and admission to the larger conferences. Statistics show well over 1000 homeschooled students in just Berkeley and Jefferson counties with that number rising annually.
Educational and encouraging break out sessions allow attendees to learn from experts in the field; whether the topic is pre-school, motivating teens or preparing for college.
Mike Donnelly, Staff Attorney for HSLDA and the morning keynote speaker this year will unfold the mystery of the Common Core giving parents a better understanding of it. Joanne Calderwood, the lunchtime speaker, mother of 8, and author will discuss methods of teaching your children to be self-motivated.
Admission to the conference includes not only the sessions, but also, access to the exhibit hall, the ability to consign books in our used curriculum sale, and a catered lunch.
The 2014 EPHSC is sponsored by the following: Christian Home Educators of West Virginia (CHEWV), Home Works by Precept, and Chesterton Press.
