The FOSL Book Group will meet at the Library at 4 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 25 to discuss Allan Eckert's Blue Jacket: War Chief of the Shawnees.
Adults are invited to borrow a Kindle Touch, pre-loaded with a variety of fiction, nonfiction, or mystery titles. If you prefer, the Librarian will download book titles that you select from our free database. Complete with instructions, a USB cable and a charging adapter, these Kindles may be borrowed for two weeks by permanent residents of Jefferson County. Kindle borrowers must be 18 or older, have a Shepherdstown Library card, and show a driver's license or WV photo ID.

The Shepherdstown Museum, at the corner of German and Princess streets, is open on weekends from April through October, on July 4, and during Christmas in Shepherdstown. Public hours are: Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays, 1 p.m.-4 p.m. The Museum tells the history of Shepherdstown and of the Entler Hotel, in which it is located. On display are 18th and 19th century clocks, rifles, furniture and other crafts, other kinds of early artifacts, and a half-scale replica of James Rumsey's early steamboat, made by local craftsmen. Visits can be arranged at other times by calling 304-876-0910 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Holy Week Services
New Street UMC in Shepherdstown will be holding several special services to observe Holy Week. On Easter Sunday there will be a Sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. with breakfast being served. The traditional Easter service will be at 10 a.m. New Street is located at the corner of New and Church streets and all are welcomed to attend any or all these services.
Easter Sunrise Service at Rumsey Monument Park.Hosted by Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church. Informal gathering of song, silence and scripture. The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County is having their annual Easter Flower Sale from 2-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dominos Pizza in Shepherdstown. There will be a large variety of plants including: hyacinths, tulips, hydrangeas, mums, lilies, azaleas, mini roses, hanging baskets and much more. AWS merchandise will be available also. The SCC is having a tree planting at Morgan's Grove Park. The 24 trees were donated by the WV Project CommuniTree. Preparatory digging will begin at 11 a.m. and planting of the trees with the help of Boy Scouts and Youth Soccer League players will begin at 1 p.m. All volunteers welcome.
