Shepherdstown Rotary Club honors Monica Lockett

The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown has presented a Paul Harris Award to Club member Monica Lockett.

The presentation was made at the Club's regular June 24 breakfast meeting at the Bavarian Inn.

The Paul Harris Award is the Shepherdstown Rotary Club's highest award. It is named for the individual who founded Rotary International in 1905, Paul Percy Harris (1868-1947).

The Shepherdstown Club periodically bestows this award on Club and community members who exemplify the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self." The Club makes a $1,000 contribution from its own funds to the International Rotary organization's charitable foundation on each awardee's behalf.

Ms. Lockett is the Administrator of the Canterbury Center, a skilled nursing facility in Shepherdstown.

Originally from the Pittsburgh, PA area, she has been a West Virginian since 1994.

She holds an undergraduate degree in Journalism from West Virginia University and a Master's Degree in Health Care Administration from Marshall University.

She joined the Shepherdstown Rotary Club in 2009 and became the Community Services Chair in 2010, Vice President in 2011, and President in 2012.

She has represented the Club at Rotary district events and has been an active participant with local Rotary projects.

She plays an active role in her local church and local community and serves on Shepherd University's MBA advisory board. She currently resides in Martinsburg. S
