Tari Mari Janssen, 53, of Shepherdstown passed away on July 8, 2014, with her husband at her side at the Berkeley Medical Center.
Born Nov. 2, 1960 in Killeen, Texas, she was the daughter of Steve and Gloria Butts. She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Keith; her daughter Kristin; her father and mother; brother Don and sisters Sindia and Meghan.
Tari first came to Shepherdstown in 1985, while dating Keith and fell in love with both. She returned numerous times over the years, finally moving here permanently in 2007. Upon returning she completed her Bachelors degree at Shepherd University. Tari was an accomplished artist, designer, beekeeper and gardener and was most recently employed at the American Public University System in Charles Town, West Virginia.
She selflessly volunteered in numerous organizations around the country during the many moves with the Army and Coast Guard and touched many.
A private family service will be scheduled at a later date. In keeping with Taris wishes, donations to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation
(www.TheMMRF.Org) in her name should be made in lieu of flowers or other acknowledgements.
