Mary L. Viger

Mary L. Viger, 80, of Shepherdstown, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Canterbury Center, Shepherdstown.

Born Oct. 14, 1933, in Kearneysville, she was the daughter of George Ambrose and Janet (Linaweaver) Ambrose.

Mrs. Viger retired from Shepherd University as a secretary in the maintenance department.

She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Shepherdstown and the Lady Fairfax CEOs.

Mary graduated from Shepherdstown High School.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Leo M. Viger, at home; daughter, Phyllis B. Grantham and husband, Bill, of Kearneysville; grandchildren, Natalie Friend and husband, Randy and Dr. Olivia Mooney and husband, C.T.; great-grandchildren, Nell, Lew and Sam Friend; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, David Hunter Banks, who died July 29, 1977; two sisters, Josephine Wall and Rita Williams; and brother, George W. "Bill" Ambrose Jr.

A memorial mass will be held at a later date, with Father T. Mathew Rowgh officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown.
