Lap Babies and Ones meets Tuesdays from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Time for Toddlers is on Tuesdays from 11:15 to noon. The After School Program for ages 5 through 12 is held Wednesdays from 4 to 4:45. Thursdays from 11:15 to noon is the Threes, Fours, and Fives program.

Feb. 11: On Wednesday, Feb. 11 from 1 to 2 p.m. there will be a special Valentine’s Day program for ages three through five presented in the Shepherdstown Library’s Children’s Department. This free program will include stories and a craft with Miss Christy. Later that day, ages five and older are invited to learn to make pop-up valentines during a story time with Miss Anne from 4 to 4:45. Feb. 16: The Shepherdstown Library will be open from 10 to 7 on Monday, Feb. 16, Presidents’ Day. There will be a display of children’s books in celebration of Black History Month, as well as books about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.

Feb. 27: The Friends of the Shepherdstown Library (FOSL) Book Club will discuss The Good Lord Bird by James McBride at 4 p.m. in the Library.

The Shepherdstown Museum, at the corner of German and Princess streets, is open on weekends from April through October, on July 4, and during Christmas in Shepherdstown. Public hours are: Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays, 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Visits can be arranged at other times by calling 304-876-0910 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The Jefferson County Council on Aging will host a Sweetheart Dinner and Dance on Friday, Feb. 6 from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Ranson Civic Center. Dinner tickets are available for advanced sale only and dinner menu choices include steak or chicken, tossed salad, baked potato, green beans and desert at a cost of $30 single or $50 couple. Music for the dance will be provided by Cazhmiere. Tickets for the dance portion only are $20 at the door. Dharma Yoga Level 2, noon-1:30 p.m. Harmony yoga instructor Gena Rockwell will offer donation-based Dharma Yoga (levels 2 and 3) classes at the Harmony, located at 211 E. New St., Shepherdstown, on Saturdays at noon. The next Saturday class is a Level 3, suitable for intermediate and advanced students, at least one year of yoga experience is required. The sixth Speak Story Series concert will feature Elizabeth Ellis of Dallas, Texas. Speak will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Club War Memorial Building. Come support the Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County by enjoying a delicious buffet, silent and live auctions and raffles to benefit the Society’s renovations of the existing cat rooms. Valentine’s Day Yoga Class for Twosomes, 5-6:30 p.m. Partner yoga is accessible to all, and no experience is necessary. Most poses are easy and fun, and they rely more on physical give-and-take than yoga experience. Challenging variations will be offered as well, for those who feel like delving deeper.The class is ideal for couples, parent and child (over 12 years old), friends and singles (we’ll have a partner for you). A community choir fest in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will feature the Shepherdstown Elementary chorus, Shepherd University students and several Shepherdstown churches, at 4 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, Rt. 480 (across from Morgan’s Grove Park). A free-will offering will benefit the Shepherd University Multicultural Leadership Team Scholarship Program, established in 1991 and currently assisting 28 students.

Join the Shepherdstown Community Club for its February dinner ($20) featuring chicken pot pie comfort food for a February evening in Shepherdstown followed by a program about the regional Habitat for Humanity, builder of homes with volunteer labor for families in need. Hear about how the families are screened, how the houses are built and listen to the experiences of Shepherd University students joining us, who have been on a previous build and those awaiting their opportunity during 2015 alternative Spring break. Crystal Bowl Concert, noon-12:40 p.m. Ann Craig performs an extraordinary “sound meditation” using eight quartz crystal bowls that fill the Harmony studio with an energetic yet peaceful vibration that soothes and aligns mind, body and soul. “Hope for a Kinder Future: How to Teach Youth About Animal Welfare” is a workshop for classroom instructors and other youth leaders. Attendees will learn how to offer humane education programs to youth in Kindergarten through 5th grade. The workshop is hosted by The National Humane Education Society and will take place at The Briggs Animal Adoption Center at 3731 Berryville Pike Charles Town, WV, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m..
