Feb. 27: The Friends of the Shepherdstown Library (FOSL) Book Club will discuss The Good Lord Bird by James McBride at 4 p.m. in the Library.

Mar. 7: At 11 a.m. there will be a special story time for ages three and older to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday. This free program in the Shepherdstown Library’s Children’s Department will include Dr. Seuss stories, activities, and a craft with Miss Christy. Children are welcome to dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character! The Mid Atlantic Branch of the Second Indianhead Division Association will have its annual reunion in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on May 1 – 3, 2015 at the Continental Inn. “Hope for a Kinder Future: How to Teach Youth About Animal Welfare” is a workshop for classroom instructors and other youth leaders. Attendees will learn how to offer humane education programs to youth in Kindergarten through 5th grade. The workshop is hosted by The National Humane Education Society and will take place at The Briggs Animal Adoption Center at 3731 Berryville Pike Charles Town, WV, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Dharma Yoga Level 2, noon-1:30 p.m Harmony yoga instructor Gena Rockwell will offer donation-based Dharma Yoga (levels 2 and 3) classes at the Harmony, located at 211 E. New St., Shepherdstown, on Saturdays at noon. The next Saturday class is a Level 2, suitable for intermediate students, at least one year of yoga experience is required. Restorative Yoga Bliss Workshop, 1-3 p.m. Harmony Healing Arts Center, located at 211 E. New St., Shepherdstown, will host a two-hour Restorative Yoga Bliss Workshop complete with hot stones and essential oils to release muscle tension and relax even more deeply. Liz Ward, owner of Renew Yoga, will teach the workshop that is open to all levels of practitioners, including beginners. Jefferson County Parks and Recreation will begin offering cash bingo on the second Friday of each month at the Sam Michaels Community Center. This ongoing fundraising effort will help support recreational and special events in the park system. Please visit www.jcprc.org to find all the details.

Free Group Hypnosis For Healing, 6-6:45 p.m. Michelle DeStefano, certified consulting hypnotist, will conduct group-hypnosis sessions designed to promote healing on a body-mind-spirit level. This is a 45-minute session where she will guide participants to activate their subconscious mind to promote healing and a healthy sense of well-being. The sessions will continue the last Friday of each month beginning Feb. 27 through April 24 from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Donations accepted gratefully, but not necessary.
