Saturday, March 5: Children three and older are invited to a special Saturday program featuring Dr. Seuss stories, plus songs and a craft, at 11 a.m. in the Library.

March 6 through 12: Come check out our new toys — a digital camera, earphones, tablet, laptop and a wireless mouse — during Teen Tech Week, and get connected, learn, and create at the Shepherdstown Library! Many thanks to Ashton Lear, whose artwork won the 2015 Doodle4Google prize for West Virginia, and who chose us to be the recipient of free books and technology.

Friday, March 25: The FOSL Book Club will discuss Nikki Giovanni’s Chasing Utopia: a Hybrid at 4 p.m. in the Library.

Monday, March 28: The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will present “Float Your Boat” at 1:30 p.m. — in the Library’s Children’s Department and then outdoors — for ages 4 and older. Hear a story, make a raft out of natural materials, and then find out if it will float. No registration is needed. (This is the first in a series of six free ‘Passport to Nature’ programs presented by PVAS at public libraries through April 2. Free weekly story times for infants through age twelve: “Lap Babies” (birth to 18 months) meets Tuesdays from 10:15 to 11 a.m. “Time for Twos” is on Tuesdays from 11:15 to noon. Wednesdays from 11:15 to noon is the “Three to Fives” program. The “After School Program” for ages five and older is held Wednesdays from 4 to 4:45. The Shepherdstown Museum, at the corner of German and Princess streets, is open on weekends from April through October, on July 4, and during Christmas in Shepherdstown. Public hours are: Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays, 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Visits can be arranged at other times by calling 304-876-0910 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The Trinity Thrift Shop, located at 104 S. Church Street, Shepherdstown, is having its clothing bag sale through Mar. 26, 2016 – $5 for all the clothing that can fit in one bag! In addition, many other items are half price for the same timeframe. The Shop is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County will be having their annual spring Rabies Clinic at Tractor Supply in Charles Town from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Dr. Adrianne Doering, VMD will vaccinate dogs and cats over 3 months of age. All dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in carriers. There will be a secure, enclosed area available to safely vaccinate cats. The vaccination cost is $10 for each pet. Bring prior shot records and owner identification for faster registration. If your pet has been previously vaccinated, you must bring previous Rabies Certificate to receive a three (3) year Vaccination and Certificate. If this is your pet’s first Rabies vaccine or they are overdue, the vaccine will be valid for one year. For faster registration- go to www.awsjc.orgto the rabies clinic tab. Dave Giusti, from Virginia calls lively contra and square dances at the Shepherdstown War Memorial Building. The live music will be provided by a fine multi-instrumentalist trio made up of Elke Baker, the Scottish National Fiddle champion, Paul Oorts, and Liz Donaldson, all from Maryland. Beginners workshop starts at 7:30 p.m. and the dance starts at 8 p.m. All levels of experience are welcome, no partners needed. Please wear clean, soft-soled shoes to protect the floor. Jefferson County Homeland Security and Emergency Management has invited the National Weather Service to teach a SKYWARN Storm Spotter Convection Class from 7-10 p.m. The class will be held at the Independent Fire Company located at 200 West 2nd Avenue, Ranson. New Street United Methodist Church will host an All You Can Eat Spaghetti Supper from 5 to 7 p.m. The church is located at 202 W. New Street. The dining hall is in the lower level. The menu includes spaghetti, roll, salad, homemade desserts and beverages. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children -12. Carry out is available.

Please join us as CATF presents scenes from each of the 2016 plays. The evening will feature a very special appearance by OBIE-AWARD winning playwright, Susan Miller, who will read from her work. It all happens at the Marinoff Theater, 62 W. Campus Drive from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

Maggie’s Card Party “Bridge, Bunco & Mahjong Party for Good Shepherd Caregivers“: Lots of fun is in store for those who attend a Bridge, Bunco & Mahjong party to benefit Good Shepherd Caregivers at 10 a.m. at Cress Creek Country Club.
