The Shepherdstown Museum, at the corner of German and Princess streets, is open on weekends from April through October, on July 4, and during Christmas in Shepherdstown. Public hours are: Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays, 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Visits can be arranged at other times by calling 304-876-0910 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The Trinity Thrift Shop, located at 104 S. Church Street, Shepherdstown, is having its clothing bag sale through March 26, 2016 – $5 for all the clothing that can fit in one bag! In addition, many other items are half price for the same timeframe. The Shop is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Washington Arts Gallery offers several upcoming events. They will begin with the Washington High School Art Club under direction of Sam Nelson from Thursday, March 31 to Sunday, April 3. Next, we have Claire Ayres showing from Thursday, April 7 to Sunday, April 10. Next, we have the Jefferson County Photography Club showing April 14 to April 17. Last, showing from April 21-24 we will welcome an art student from the Shepherd University Art Department, headed by Rhonda Smith. The Washington Street Artists Co Op is located at 108 N. Shepherdstown Music and Dance hosts the monthly contra dance on Saturday Apr. 2 at the War Memorial Building ball room from 8 to 11p.m.The caller, Bob Isaacs from New Brunswick, New Jersey, is a prolific writer of intricate and fun contra dances. He will be joined by the band Tempest from New York. Composed of Tim Ball on fiddle, Chuck Abell on guitar and Harry Aceto on bass, Tempest blends traditional tunes with inventive,progressive grooves and harmonies from jazz, Irish fiddle tunes, and pop/R&B. A free beginners’ workshop will be conducted at 7:30 to learn the basic contra dance moves. Admission is $12 non-members / $8 members / $5 for children under age 12 and for Rambler student card holders. Please wear soft-soled shoes. All are welcome. From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. the Bolivar-Harpers Ferry Public Library will be hosting a lecture by Doug Estepp about the West Virginia Mine Wars, a turbulent, violent and complex era in the W.
