The Shepherdstown Library’s popular children’s programs are offered in the Children’s Department through May 24; no registration is required. “Lapbabies” for children birth through 18 months is Tuesdays from 10:15 to 11 a.m. “Time for Twos” meets from 11:15 to noon on Tuesdays. The “Three to Five Year Olds” program is on Wednesdays from 11:15 to noon. Saturday, Feb. 18: Children three and older are invited to a “Space and Beyond” story time with songs, stories, and a craft about the moon, planets, and stars, to be held at 11 a.m. in the Shepherdstown Library’s Children’s Department (100 East German Street). Wed. Feb. 22: The Board of the Shepherdstown Library will hold its monthly meeting starting at 7 p.m. in the Library (100 East German Street). This meeting is open to the public.
Fri., Feb. 24: The FOSL Book Club will meet in the Shepherdstown Library at 5 p.m. to discuss Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates.

The Shepherdstown Museum, at the corner of German and Princess streets, is open on weekends from April through October, on July 4, and during Christmas in Shepherdstown. Public hours are: Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays, 1-4 p.m. Visits can be arranged at other times by calling 304-876-0910 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Calling all knitters, quilters, rugmakers and others! We meet in the Trinity Episcopal Church Fellowship Hall, corner of German and Church streets, every Tuesday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. Work on your own projects while socializing with other crafters. (We also take time out for tea and snacks.)
The Trinity Thrift Shop is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by for some cool finds – clothing for all, jewelry, books, movies, toys, kitchen and other house wares, prints, knick knacks, and holiday items! The Shop accept accepts donations of clothing, books, jewelry, and many other items. It also collects used eye glasses on behalf of the Lion’s Club. The Thrift Shop cannot accept furniture, other large items and electronics due to limited space. Contributions may be delivered to the screened-in back porch at any time. The Jefferson County Community Choir is seeking singers for their spring, Apr. 20 concert. Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, March 7, from 7 until 9 p.m. and every subsequent Tuesday. Rehearsals are held in the basement Social Hall at St. James Catholic Church until the concert. There is a $20 membership fee. No audition necessary. Turning Pointe Dance Company presents a Princess Tea Party from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Station at Shepherdstown. Wear favorite royal attire and plan to enjoy tea (apple juice), snacks, a princess craft and court dance lessons. Tickets are $10 per child and are available at www.tututix.com/rnmdancestudio. The annual Community Festival of Music in honor of the work and witness of Martin Luther King, Jr. will be hosted by Asbury United Methodist Church (4257 Kearneysville Pike, across from Morgan’s Grove Park) Sunday, at 4:30 p.m. The several churches of Shepherdstown and the Shepherdstown Elementary Drumming group will present a variety of songs and anthems.
The offering will benefit the Shepherd University Multicultural Leadership Team Scholarship Fund. A student recipient will give a brief testimony to its value. This program is sponsored by the Shepherdstown Ministerial Association. For more information contact Tommy Murray. (304) 876-3112

Good Shepherd Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers presents Maggie’s Card Party at 10 a.m. Featuing bridge, bunco and mahjong at The Club at Cress Creek, 100 Cress Creek Drive. Tickets are $30 with $15 of that tax deductible. Lunch is included.

Mark your calendars for the VETERUN. This race is a 5K, 1/2 marathon and Fun Run at Summit Point Speedway in Summit Point, WV. Proceeds from the race benefit veterans’ causes and donations in the past have been made to: Shepherd University Student Veteran Organization; Charles Town VFW; Jefferson County Parks & Recreation for Veterans’ Pavilion. This is a chance to run on the racetrack for CASH awards. Wounded warriors are eligible for free registration and the race is seeking wheelchair athletes for its “Steve’s Wheelers” division.
