Mon., May 1: Children ages three through five are encouraged to attend a fun Spanish immersion story time at 11:30 a.m. in the Shepherdstown Library’s Children’s Department (100 E. German St.). Call 304-876-2783 or email splchild@martin.lib.wv.us for more information.
Sat., May 6: A Lego Club for ages four and older will meet in the Children’s Department at 1:30 p.m. For details, call Christy Hagerty at the library or email splchild@martin.lib.wv.us .
Wed. May 10-Fri. May 12: Donations of books, CDs, and DVDs are requested for the Friends of the Shepherdstown Library’s annual book sale. Please bring donations to the Shepherdstown Community Club’s War Memorial Building (102 E. German St.) between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. For more information, library.

Sat., May 13: The Friends of the Shepherdstown Library’s Book Sale will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the War Memorial Building; admission is free.
Sat., May 13: Meet baby goats and lambs from 11 a.m. to noon. This Shepherdstown Library story time for all ages will be held (rain or shine) on the lawn next to 104 South King St. Call the library for more information.)
Sun., May 14: The final day of the Friends of the Shepherdstown Library’s Book sale will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Wed. May 24: The Library’s weekly children’s programs (Lap Babies, Time for Twos, and the Three to Fives) are offered in the Children’s Department through May 24, and resume in September. However, the first day to pick up summer reading program logs is June 5. For more information call the library.
Wed. May 24: The Board of the Shepherdstown Library will hold its monthly meeting starting at 7 p.m. in the Library. This meeting is open to the public.
Fri., May 26: The FOSL Book Club will not meet in the Shepherdstown Library. Their next meeting will be on Friday, June 30 at 5 p.m. to discuss Dead Wake: the Last Crossing of the Lusitania, by Erik Larson. For more information, call the library.
Sat., May 27: At 11 a.m. there will be a “Here Comes Summer” story time for ages three and older with activities and a craft. For information, call the library.
Mon., May 29: The library will be closed from 10 to 7.

Glory Days Grill Dining for Dollars Fundraiser to Benefit Animal Welfare Society: The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County is proud to announce their participation in the Dining for Dollars fundraiser at Glory Days Grill in Ranson which began Jan.1 and continues through the end of the year. Keep your copy of your guest check (not credit card receipt), and either mail it to: AWS P.O. Box 147, Charles Town, WV, 25414 or place it in the collection box at Petco in Ranson.
The Trinity Thrift Shop is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by for some cool finds – clothing for all, jewelry, books, movies, toys, kitchen and other house wares, prints, knick knacks, and holiday items! The Shop accept accepts donations of clothing, books, jewelry, and many other items. It also collects used eye glasses on behalf of the Lion’s Club. The Thrift Shop cannot accept furniture, other large items and electronics due to limited space. Contributions may be delivered to the screened-in back porch at any time. The Third Annual Shepherd International Guitar Festival will be held through Monday, May 1. Grammy Award winner, David Russell will be our festival headliner. The lineup of artists for the 2017 Festival is outstanding, featuring a variety of traditional pieces and new compositions presented by, and guitarist. Spaghetti Dinner – All You Can Eat !! at New Street United Methodist Church, 202 West New Street (Corner of New & Church streets) in the lower level dining hall from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu includes spaghetti with choice of 3 different sauces: meat, meat with mushrooms or vegetarian; rolls; salad; home-made desserts; and beverages. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 3-12. Carryout is available.

Morgan Academy Yard Sale Fundraiser-Shepherdstown Community Club Saturday will be held from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.at the Shepherdstown Community Club. The yard sale will benefit Morgan Academy and 10 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Shepherdstown Community Club. If you would like to rid your house, attic, garage, closet, time capsule, and enjoy our busy town’s finest K-9s, please bring your goods and join us for a fun day of community togetherness. Trinity Treasure Kids Preschool invites the community to a Magic Show at 10:30 a.m. in the social room of Trinity Episcopal Church at the corner of Church and German streets. Each child is $8 which also includes balloon animals and face paint. Join in the yard after the festivities for lunch. There will also be a yard sale in the chapel featuring kid’s clothes, toys and household items. Please come out and support Treasure Kids, a Christian Pre-school dedicated to meeting the needs of every family. The Eastern Panhandle Entrepreneurs Forum (EPEF) will present “Entrepreneur Success Story” at The Purple Iris. Entrepreneur Brian Weber, owner of the Eastern Panhandle Bicycle Company in Martinsburg, will be the guest speaker. He will discuss how he started his business with a dream and $5,000.The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 5:30 p.m. with networking and refreshments, followed by the presentation at 6:30 p.m. The Purple Irisislocated at 1956 Winchester Avenue in Martinsburg. The Potomac-Mecklenburg Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to noon on the grounds of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Shepherdstown. Shoppers can expect to purchase a large selection of perennials and native plants. Proceeds fund community projects.
The Berkeley-Jefferson Extension Master Gardeners will hold their annual Garden Fest and Plant Sale at the Bedington Ruritan Club, 3947 Williamsport Pike, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Many plants, including West Virginia heirloom tomato plants and garden-related items will be on sale. Fund Raiser for Relay for Life: We are looking for Crafters and Vendors for an outside event being held at the Corner Creamery and Cafe, 2809 Charlestown Road. The Cost for a 10×10 space is $20. The “Friday Painters” of Shepherdstown will be having their Annual Art Show at the Shepherdstown Community Clubon German Street. The show will feature a wide variety of mediums from the artists. Opening reception will be Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
