German Street was closed Monday by Allegheny Power to replace a leaning utility pole at the corner of German and Church streets. A town official had noticed the pole was more than 50 percent rotted at its base and was in danger of falling. Several costumers near the intersection lost power for a short time as a transformer was transferred to the new pole. Frontier Communications and the television cable company will also transfer equipment to the new pole.
