‘Zone Pricing’ looks a lot like price fixing
Why is it that oil prices have dropped drastically over the last few weeks and we are now seeing gas prices increase? This makes no sense. The fact that the gas prices for our area have not kept pace with the dropping oil prices brings many questions of price fixing to mind.
Now the oil companies will use terms like “Zone Pricing.” This is just playing semantics with words. “Zone Pricing” = price fixing.
I commute to Northern Virginia every day, and I am amazed that it is much cheaper for me to purchase gas where the median income is absolutely higher than the Eastern Panhandle and a decent home will run you $350K or more. Someone should be looking in to this. Write your state and federal representatives, and don’t patronize these stations until they stop this appalling practice.
