Women deserve to be able to make decisions that are right for them
We live in a country that allows freedom, including a woman’s right to choose abortion. There are strong feelings about this issue. But however strongly we feel, how could we possibly make that decision for someone else? I believe it is better that each person make her own decision, supported by loved ones, counseling, medically accurate information, health care and excellent service provision.
Women have abortions for many different reasons. Our country respects and supports women and families as they face the life-altering decision of whether or not to have a child.
Since the decision to become a parent is one of the most important choices anyone can make, we should ensure that if a woman gets pregnant, she has the opportunity to make the best decision for herself.
I don’t like abortion, but I feel so strongly about choice that I adopted two children whose birth mothers needed options.
Statistically, the risk factors associated with unwanted pregnancies in West Virginia are staggering. (See: http://wvfree.org/research.php.)
Providing all alternatives to birth mothers can ensure that parenting is a positive choice. We can strive to ensure that all West Virginia children are raised by caring, secure families. Rather than judge what is morally right or wrong, we can educate.
West Virginia Free Reproductive Rights Organization supports women with accurate information regarding contraception and abortion. Please visit this resource at www.wvfree.org
I encourage all women to be prepared, use contraception and do their best, to make the right choice.
