Come out to the Men’s Club open house
The Shepherdstown Men’s Club is holding an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, March 29. One objective is to increase membership by improving awareness of the club, but another equally important purpose is to provide an opportunity to visit with participants in other organizations in our community in a congenial atmosphere over refreshments. Many of us are involved in more than one avocation or activity and I am sure are struck by how often we share mutual interests and goals.
Because of the austere economic environment we now find ourselves in, we will all have to do more with less. But there is no reason why we should allow the quality of life in our community to deteriorate. Many of us are in our “golden years” and we can’t afford to defer pursuing those extra efforts that often determine quality of life.
On the other end of the spectrum our young people are in their formative years and family-oriented social activities are extremely important at this time in their lives. There are many areas where a little initiative and enlightened cooperation can make a huge difference.
We are not hung up on the “not invented here” syndrome, and welcome your suggestions and critical comments. Besides all that, friendship doesn’t cost anything!
So we look forward to seeing you on Sunday afternoon.
Mike Austin
President, Shepherdstown Men’s Club
