Stabbing confirmed, but police keep mum

By Staff | Apr 24, 2009

State Police confirmed this week that a person was stabbed in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 19, but are saying little else about the crime.

State Trooper Sgt. R.T. Dyroff said Tuesday that to release more information could compromise the investigation.

The Shepherdstown Police Department’s duty log for April 19 showed the town was called at 2 a.m. to Sandpiper Lane in the Mecklenburg Heights housing development off W.Va. 45 to serve as backup.

The Journal newspaper reported April 20 “the victim was stabbed six times, and was flown to Winchester for medical treatment.” No further information was available.
