Thanks to those who helped with health project
The Eastern WV Rural Health Education Consortium, part of the WV Rural Health Education Partnerships (WVRHEP), would like to thank all those assisting with the WV CARDIAC (Coronary Artery Risk Detection in Appalachian Communities) Project.
The WV CARDIAC Project’s goal is to identify risk factors for heart disease in children and parents and begin early preventative measures. The project provides 5th grade and 2nd grade students with a height and weight measurement.
The 5th graders also received a free cholesterol test, blood pressure check, and Acanthosis Nigricans screening.
The consortium would like to thank Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan County school nurses, superintendents, principals, teachers, and parent volunteers as well as WVU-Hospitals East (City Hospital and Jefferson Memorial Hospital), Elizabeth “Cookie” Staubs, Charles Hizer, Linda Baldasarre, Stacey Younker, Tammy Garrett, Marian Morrison, Tammy Adams, Robert VanFleet, Staci Lentz, Tania Sims, Tiffany Barnisky, Erica Cupp, and Paul Cooper for their assistance with this worthwhile project to improve the health of WV children and families.
