Organizers with the Ray Miller Memorial All-American Scholastic Soap Box Derby reportedly informed officials with the Corporation of Shepherdstown late last week they plan to hold the event in Ranson instead of on Washington Street in Shepherdstown.

The race has been held on German Street in Shepherdstown for the past several years and was slated to take place here Memorial Day Monday, May 25.

Organizers and business owners had come up with a compromise to hold the race on Washington Street instead of German Street after business owners voiced their concerns about limited access during the race, which takes several hours.
