Golden Horseshoe winners honored

Shepherdstown Middle School eighth-graders Emilie Myers, Arlo Parker, Dominic Massimino, and Levi Spickler (not pictured) went to Charleston on May 1 to participate in the 78th annual Golden Horseshoe Day at the capital.
They joined 221 other eighth-grade students from around the state honored for their knowledge of West Virginia studies gained from studying a year-long curriculum on West Virginia.
The students honored in this historic ceremony were inducted into the Golden Horseshoe Society by State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steven Paine, received a Golden Horseshoe pin, and had the privilege of meeting Governor Joe Manchin, III at a luncheon reception in the capital complex.
