They joined 221 other eighth-grade students from around the state honored for their knowledge of West Virginia studies gained from studying a year-long curriculum on West Virginia.

The students honored in this historic ceremony were inducted into the Golden Horseshoe Society by State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steven Paine, received a Golden Horseshoe pin, and had the privilege of meeting Governor Joe Manchin, III at a luncheon reception in the capital complex.
