Visitors Center, business owners collaborating
On May 14, 2009, the Shepherdstown Visitors Center Volunteers took a tour up and down German Street visiting our local businesses. It was a good day for the Volunteers to introduce themselves to local business owners and employees, while learning what our town has to offer in goods and services. One important aspect of the day was that we found one day was not enough and our time was limited. If we missed your business and you would like to meet with these volunteers please contact the Shepherdstown Visitors Center at (304) 876-2786 or email us at info@shepherdstownvisitorscenter.com .
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Shepherdstown Visitors Center Volunteers who took the time to visit local businesses, but more than that, I would like to thank all the volunteers for being true ambassadors for Shepherdstown. Many times, these volunteers are the first people to greet the tourists that come to visit our town. The warm and welcoming greetings that they share can make all the difference in the world to make people feel that they are glad to be here in Shepherdstown. The information that spills out of the Visitors Center and onto German Street and beyond truly helps the vitality of our town.
The Shepherdstown Visitors Center Volunteers give freely of their time because they care deeply about the community in which they live and they are proud to share this information with everyone who walks through the Center’s door. They are truly ambassadors and if you have time, stop in the Shepherdstown Visitors Center to thank the people who volunteer for our town, a town we are all proud of to call our home.
On Thursday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Shepherdstown Visitors Center will welcome business owners and their employees to visit the Center as a first time visitor to Shepherdstown to get a feeling of how the Center can represent their businesses as well as accept the advice of how we can improve in this area. If you are a local business owner or employee, please feel free to stop in for a visit.
On July 12, The Shepherdstown Visitors Center will be hosting its first annual fundraiser, “Shepherdstown Has Gone to the Dogs” and if you have a dog or like dogs, you won’t want to miss this. Mark your calendars for July 12 at Morgan’s Grove from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., keep an eye out for more information to follow and don’t forget to tell your dogs!
