Girl Scout earns Gold Award

Lindsey Cobb, Girl Scout Gold Award recipient, receives her certificate from Berniece Collis, President of Girl Scouts of America's Shawnee Council.
Lindsay Cobb, of Shenandoah Junction, earned the Gold Award, Girl Scouts highest honor, for her project “Have Fun, Learn English.” The project involved developing and designing a take home workbook for young English-as-a-second-language students with a variety of activites in a fun and colorful format to help them practice the basics of the English language.
Over one hundred copies of the workbook were distributed to Jefferson and Loudoun County schools, as well as a version posted on the Jefferson County Schools website. Not only did the students gain a better understanding of the English language, many of them used the workbooks to help their parents learn English. The Gold Award is awarded to only one percent of all eligible Girl Scouts annually.
