The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County just raised $18,000 at its third Paws and Claws Dinner and Auction on June 13. Jane Tarner, an employee of the Animal Welfare Society, was happy to speak about the event.

The organization’s board of directors organized the dinner and auction, which was held at the third floor ballroom of a corporate sponsor: Charles Town Races and Slots.

A social hour was followed by dinner, music, and a silent and live auction. There were 190 people in attendance. Everything from artwork to household item was auctioned off, and there was even an auctioneer in attendance for the 20 live auctions. The Animal Welfare Society earned profit in excess: $15,000 was the goal they aimed to reach. Funds were also generated through the $40 ticket sales.

Other corporate sponsors for the event were Petco Foundation, McKinney’s Auto Repair, Powell’s Plumbing, , Bank of Charles Town, Apple Tree Animal Clinic, Kohlepp Agency All State Insurance Bridge Fine Art and Framing.
